Welcome to the Yarrow Ecovillage. This Heritage barn is one of the only original buildings we'll be keeping. It will become the centre of our Commercial/Mixed Use area in which we envision a farmer's market, The Yarrow Deli, Adult cohousing, Artisan and Gourmet Shopping.

The Yarrow Deli has become a favorite destination for not only the villagers, but draws customers from the entire region. They serve up a mean iced coffee and some of the best goodies money can buy. Be sure and try the carrot cake. (mmmmmm carrot cake!)

Coffee anyone?

The latest building is going up quickly. A surprise to everyone, two of the carpenters working on the project like the project so much that they've decided to buy units in this building. The heart is right by one of their bedrooms. As you can see, they already love their new home.

Krishna is one of the lucky carpenters working on his own home. His only complaint is the searing summer heat!

We don't have our common house yet. For now we use this crafty space in one of the barns. When we get our common house it will serve as the heart of the community. We have planned for a huge dining room and commercial kitchen for Pot Lucks and Chef-Nights, a sitting room, craft room, kid's room, laundry, guest suite, music room, room for so much more than what any one of us could host in a typical western community.

All summer long we've treated each other to exquisite feasts... maybe we should get some exercise wheels to power the kitchen?

Now doesn't that look better than a lonely microwave special?

After meals people gather to chat and do dishes.

Janice, the chocolatier supplied desert that night.

Maureen shovels ice cream out to a line of appreciative fans.

If they know it's your birthday we will bake a cake... bake a cake...bake a cake (Raffi). Seriously. This is a stealth cake. One of the neighbours found out about a birthday and, while it was already a busy time for her, took the time to bake her neighbour a cake. As you can see there is never a trouble finding people to share birthday cake with. (Chocolate Bundt- more yum!!!)

Kids finding their own desert in the blackberry brambles

Some of the Dads comparing notes on child rearing stories.

Some of the guys got together and built this handy dock at the creekside swimming hole. I think most of the moms were eating birthday cake when this happened. Many hands make light work, and happy kids make a project so worth while!

Consuelo runs her organic cosmetics business from the ecovillage.

as you can see, she has made herself quite a nice shop. A sign hangs now aswell, tune in again for an update of this picture.

Consuelo's vision is to create a store ambiance where people will come not only to shop, but to gather and enjoy company aswell. She has made an inviting sitting area outside the shop. She sits here enjoying a family dinner with her husband children.

Families passing each other on the path to the swimming hole. Rarely do people pass without at least a little chat. In this case one might have overheard Julia say to Paul "We just ate your wife's birthday cake! It was awesome! If you hurry there might be some left!"
