We’re-Not-Seniors Seniors’ Cohousing
Are you, like me, and tucking a few more years under your belt? ... feeling mature, and still capable, but knowing that if you’re to age gracefully you need to plan a home and community that still keeps your quality of life high in your latter years? Or ... do you know someone else like this?
Then you, (or they), will be interested in
Yarrow Ecovillage’s 50+ Cohousing
Yarrow Ecovillage already has a multi-generational village of thirty households underway and more mature folks are welcome to join that. But we have an additional plan in mind...
Cohousing for “We’re–not-Seniors ”, that’s close to family cohousing, the organic farm and town square life but in its own quieter realm.
Our architect and planner extraordinaire, Chuck Durrett, (www.cohousingco.com) is designing a village square of shops and businesses in the front of our Ecovillage, with apartments above and room for common facilities below. We’re encouraging having 50+ cohousing there.
Think: Elevator access; being out of the busy traffic-flow but still in a lively place; close to shops, and activities in a rural setting; shared dinners with companionable folks; your own private rooms and an organic farm down your own lane.
Feel: Relief! .. there is an alternative to what you worry about in regular seniors housing or trying to keep your own house going!
Act: Come and consider this as an option in your life. Bring friends! We run public presentations, tours and study groups.

Aging in Place Successfully
Study Group One
Are you looking up ahead, or over your shoulder, at turning 50? To prepare for the future are you considering changing where or how you live? Do you wish you had a greater sense of community with your neighbours? What will you need to adjust for the next chapter of your life?

Our study groups on Active Aging use experiential learning to highlight the opportunities and challenges of “aging in place,” and the advantages of community in comparison to the alternatives. The study group is designed to help you plan for an uncertain future.
Sharing stories and experiences, knowledge and beliefs, fears, laughter, hopes and dreams will open up new paths for a better future. This workshop will help you decide if aging in a senior cohousing community will support your vision of aging successfully.
